How to integrate FreshBooks in automation workflow?

3 simple steps to make your FreshBooks connected with other apps in automation workflows on WEXTL. Up to 10 minutes integration set up.

How FreshBooks connects and integrates with WEXTL

Save and approve your credentials once — WEXTL® stores authorization information encrypted and reuses the authentication whenever FreshBooks app is called in workflows. That allows your finance automations to run without your attention, per defined schedule [7]. Explore documentation [6] for a detailed list of fields that FreshBooks supports.

The following table illustrates what fields FreshBooks integration require during authorization flow inside our workflow builder [4].

FieldTypeHelp
Business ID

Optional. Only needed when your login has more than one business. Enter the numeric business ID of the one to use (shown in Settings → Business, or ask FreshBooks support). Leave empty to use the business you own.

Client IDRequired
text

Create an app in the developer portal (my.freshbooks.com/#/developer) and copy its Client ID. Add https://wextl.com/api/oauth/app/callback as its redirect URI. Give the app read and write access to every area you plan to use: clients, invoices, estimates, credit notes, payments, online payments, other income, expenses, bills, bill payments, vendors, items and services, taxes, projects, time entries, retainers, team, business, reports, journal entries and accounts, uploads. Your profile is always included.

Client SecretRequired
password

Copy the Client Secret from the same FreshBooks app.

Connect FreshBooks to popular apps on WEXTL

Enter a name of the other app you want to sync with FreshBooks below. Click on selected app to explore integration options with FreshBooks. If the app you search for is not available in WEXTL yet, you can use HTTP node [10] instead to integrate it directly.

Example automation with FreshBooks integration

Select Watch Invoices trigger from FreshBooks - this will be a starting point in your automation. Whenever event happens in FreshBooks, workflow will start [7] from Watch Invoices node.

Search for Add Payment Options to an Invoice, connect it as the next step of integration sequence. You can use filters between Watch Invoices and Add Payment Options to an Invoice, so only important data pass from Watch Invoices to the next step. WEXTL gives you full control over the process of FreshBooks automation. All parts of workflow are visible on the canvas [4].

FreshBooks on WEXTL has 179 modules for building finance automations. Explore FreshBooks documentation for more.
